I am the reading specialist at Academy of BioScience. I teach 4 READ180 courses and work in our school to encourage students and their families to READ!!!
Lexiles
Academy of BioScience uses a scale of "lexiles" to measure students' reading progress. The books used in READ180 are leveled by lexile - basically, the higher the lexile number, the higher the reading level of the book. Lexile.com is a good resource to learn more about lexiles. You can even type in a paragraph from a book or article you are reading, and it will tell you the lexile! Look at your child's READ180 or NWEA test reports to learn his or her lexile. Compare it against the chart below to see if your child is reading at grade level.
